Seriously more rain????

How depressing is this weather??? The only thing that kept me going through April was knowing that  I was heading off for sunnier weather. However out of 7 days in Spain we had 3 of torrential rain!!! Typical. Anyway it was Harrisons  first holiday and he loved it! He was a star on the plane and thoroughly enjoyed it!
So we then come back to work!! I would say summers are for getting all the girls together, sitting outside with a glass of rose and having a Purple Sorbet Jewellery party! Now all of that CAN happen but just inside! As long as you live in the Northamptonshire area we can come and help you earn some free jewellery! All you need is 5 or more guests and for hosting you'll receive a set of 6 wine glass charms and 10% of the sales on the night, so of course the more friends you invite, the more sales you'll get!

If you are interested just pop us an email at info@purplesorbetjewellery.com

And we're back!!!

After a bit of a hiatus, Purple Sorbet's blog is up and running again! Life has been extremely busy the last month or so and still at the moment shows no sign of slowing down with work and home! Even sitting an writing this is difficult as ALL of the furniture in our house has been moved around as we're having some building work done and it is CHAOS! Downstairs toilet moved to a new room, new tiling on the whole of the ground floor, new cupboards being created, new utility room and lots and lots of dust and mess!

On the work side of things we've recently done a jewellery party for Kate Woolley who will be running the London Marathon this Saturday for Bright Horizons Foundation for children. Kate's 10% as a host has been donated to her Just Giving fund raising. Good luck Kate for Saturday and we hope the weather holds out for you! Here's Kates fund raising page http://www.justgiving.com/Kate-Woolley-Marathon. We had some very positive feedback on our freshwater pearls and swarovski pearls and not for wedding jewellery! So take a look at the website and see which ones you like!

If anyone would like to book a jewellery party please don't hesitate to contact us at sales@purplesorbetjewellery.com or on 07738 474789

One of my beautiful friends got married last Saturday at Dodmoor House in Weedon, Northants. I just wanted to put a few pictures up!

And Nicola and I on my wedding day!!

As you can imagine everything in my house has had to be moved and put away at the moment so there's currently none of our stock at Inspire Salon however hopefully there should be by the start of May when all the dust has settled (pardon the pun) and everything can be cleaned up and be unearthed.

Well I must go and get some cleaning up done in time to pick Harrison up from nursery later. More from the blog tomorrow!

Even boys love our jewellery!

It makes you wonder what boys think sometimes! When my son was born, no one had given me any idea what children could be like. Luckily my son was better than textbook. Slept through the night at 4-5 weeks, hardly ever cried, was never sick on me and ALWAYS liked cars. When my mum and I started Purple Sorbet 9 months ago I thought my son would just 'automatically' know that jewellery was for girls and boy, (no pun intended) how wrong I was. Harrison was often around when my mum and I would make our jewellery and was always interested in the crystals and other materials we used but one day I was getting them ready to take to one of the hairdressers and he put 5 bracelets on his arm. Then declaring 'my like - mummy's'. I was like 'no honey their for girls. Well the look on his face said it all. It was like i'd taken all of his toy cars out of his hands and thrown them in a incinerator!! Well that taught me one thing - nothing is just for girls!

Clare, my sisters housemate, ordered out Sorbet Purple this week - for a guy at her work. Apparently it went down a storm! Not what I thought but apparently it did. The simple fact is, is doesn't matter what people think, it matters what your confidence exudes! I will quite happily wear any item of clothing or jewellery as long as I feel comfortable in it, everyone has their own sense of style. My son has quickly realised that as much as he likes the materials that we use, he now won't wear them (he's now 3) as he's decided their Mummy's and Granny's!

Our ranges are simple and sophisticated and we will ALWAYS try and accommodate peoples requirements. We make to size as we've realised one size doesn't fit all, we'll alter designs if you wanted something slightly different and the best thing, we're always here to help. So if you have any questions or queries, pop us an email to sales@purplesorbetjewellery.com and check out our designs at www.purplesorbetjewellery.com.

Venus is our Valentine

Saint Valentine was a Roman who was killed for his faith on February 14, 269 A.D. In 496, his 'saint day' was established. He is associated with love because he fell in love with the daughter of his jailer, and would pass notes to her. His final note, before he was executed, read 'from your Valentine'
.
And so to this day. What does Valentine's Day mean in modern times? Well now it means showing the one you love how much you care for them with cards, presents or anything they like.  So at Purple Sorbet we have designed a few bracelets to represent the meaning of Valentine's Day but our favourite by far is Venus.

Venus is made up of Rose quartz nuggets (from Vegas no less!), Swarovski AB crystals, silver links, diamante spacer beads and 3 charms.  Rose quartz is known as love gemstone. Its pink colour signifies its meaning. It is all about ‘love’ in different forms like a love that is transcendental, love for the self, passionate love, love for the family, amorous love or universal love. Its high energy stimulate in intensifying love in relationships whether it is for a love between a mother and child, lovers and beloved or simply love for friends. So of course for Valentine's Day this stone is perfect! To compliment the pretty pink quartz we use Swarovski AB crystals. We use Swarovski over any other one as they are the prettiest clear crystals due to the  'AB' (Aurora Borealis) coating to create the sparkly rainbow appearance. The three charms which are used are a diamante heart charm, a pewter 'love' charm and a Tibetan silver cherub.

These bracelets are pretty and feminine and a perfect gift for Valentine's Day so head over to www.purplesorbetjewellery.com for £29.50. There's free postage and packaging until 14th February too. I wear my Venus all the time and i'll certainly be wearing it on the 14th!!

Bye for now! x

My wedding, my new cow and in the Red Jungle

hiya everyone! After a few very busy days I finally have time to sit down and write my blog! After another night out at a friends house on Saturday night and a whole day Sunday of being in pyjamas and having a good sort out of the house and HP's room I finally sat down to do our wedding photo album! It was strange but lovely looking back at them 18 months ago.  Whenever women get married I'm sure most would turn around and say that they could do that every weekend of their life! It's fantastic and everything about our day was perfect. we had THE best weather (thank god I'd chosen a dress which was light) our caterers got everything spot on and the music topped it all off. If I can recommend these companies because they really made my day what it was.  My dress was from Brides of Wellingborough and John Cable the owner did everything he could to assist me in choosing a dress or 3! The ladies there are very knowledgeable and they'll pick out a few for you to try on if you tell them the type of thing you want. The shop is very large and light and the dresses aren't all crammed together like in some wedding shops. The only slight quibble is that you have to park in the Morrisons car park behind and walk through the little alleyway to get through to the main road.  Anyway I ended up choosing a stunning silk dress by an English designer called Nicola Anne and the dress was Brooklyn in Ivory. I actually asked to have the dress skirt slightly changed so I actually had a bespoke dress for my day!

We used K & S Ball for our catering after being at a few parties where they had provided the food. As we had quite a small number of guests Ken and Sue allowed us to offer our guests a choice of main course as we knew that some people would really struggle with one thing or another.  Now I speak the truth when I say this when every single one of our guests have come to us since and said how outstanding the food was on the day. And to top it all off we had Lincoln Noel and his trio play in the garden for us at the start of the reception and DJ Matt Potter to take us into the evening.
Now we are attempting to potty train at the moment with little success! we've had quite a few accidents and one casualty, with the casualty being my beloved sheepskin rug!!  So after having to chuck it out as Harrison has slowly destroyed it over the last few years I started looking at cowhides! Oh my god I love them! If i had my way every piece of furniture in our living room would be cowhide or pony skin but warrens stopped me at the rug. So after trawling this one website http://www.citycows.co.uk/ for about 45 minutes and being on the phone to my mum just constantly reading out different codes of rugs checking the colour, size and pattern I have finally found my perfect rug!

Now as fussy as I apparently am with cowhides my mum is equally as fussy with her hair.  After as she would describe it, donkeys years of trying different hairdressers she has finally found one she likes and has got her hair right! Thanks the lord! And lucky she likes it too as it's one of my best friends! My friend Debbi owns Jungle Red Salon on Wellingborough Road in Northampton. http://www.junglered.co.uk/  Debbi hasn't been doing my hair for too long as I was very loyal to my previous salon however after some quite childish behaviour on their part I decided enough was enough and gave Debbi the chance to do my hair and I was very very pleased with it. Now my mum used to go to hairdressers, come back complain wash her hair straight away, cut her hair herself and even once she even made me cut it when I was about 13. She must've hated it then! But I suggested to my mum to try Debbi as she REALLY knows what she's talking about. Jungle Red have The Wella Master Colour Expert Award and I think there's only another two salons that hold it in Northampton. So my mum goes to Debbi yesterday, comes back via my house and she is elated it! She has finally got the colour she wants after about 6-7 years and simply because Debbi knows what shes talking about,. She'll guide you on the colour, shade and cut to suit you.  If you go on a Friday or a Saturday they have 'Cupcake and Cava weekends' where you can have a glass of fizz and a cupcake whilst you get your hair done, a very nice touch.  Speaking of which I must go and book my hair appointment with her now for the end of the month.

Be more in a couple of days! xx

Night out, wine glass charms and jewellery parties.

Morning everyone!

phew this is a bit early for me this morning after having quite a late night last night! Never mind it was brilliant and despite getting in at 2.30am we had Harrison jumping up and down on us this morning at 7am shouting Morning time mummy and daddy! If only children knew! Luckily i'd kept the drinking to a minimum so don't feel too bad today! Only 3 glasses of wine and 1 small glass of champagne from 7.45 until 1.45am.  We've got some very good friends who were kind enough to share a bottle of Cristal with us before we went for dinner last night which was an extra special treat but of course I could only have a tincy bit as silly me had nominated to drive into town! Anyway some of you might remember watching The Restaurant Inspector last year and they were at The Vineyard in Northampton with the guy who runs The Ivy in London.  We go to the restaurant reasonably regularly but last night was definately the best.  At the moment i'm unfortunately on a wheat, dairy and tomato free diet due to intoloerances and it's difficult enough cooking with all these restrictions at home let alone a chef on a friday night in a town centre restaurant and mess all their cooking techniques around! However Tina and Amy (owners) accommodated my needs very well! They cooked my main of cod wqithout the beurre blanc sauce, I had separate vegetables with no butter and it all tasted fantastic! So if you are round and about in Northampton give it a try!

Do you ever have friends round for drinks or dinner and after a few glasses everyone always ends up losing theirs? Well that can all end now all thanks to our wine glass charms! My ones which I use when we have friends over all have different charms on so we always know which one is ours. We've done some with names on and they're a great present for friends for their birthday or a lovely gift for the host of a dinner party.  They are also a modern idea for wedding favours. We can do names, all sorts of different colour options and at only £1.25 each they're a bargain (minimum of 6).
If you have and queries about them please pop a comment below or send us an email to sales@purplesorbetjewellery.com.

Now what about combining the above two? a few glasses of wine with some friends and the opportunity to look at all of the Purple Sorbet jewellery range? Well we do home jewellery parties in the Northampton area.  We come in and set up all our ranges do a quick introduction about ourselves and the company and a brief talk about what products we have and then the rest of the night is for looking, trying on and asking any questions you may have.  If you were to host a party we would offer you 10% of the sales on that night to put towards jewellery for yourself. So obviously the more friends you have round the higher the sales will be! We also give you a set of 6 wine glass charms for holding the party. If you are interested in holding a jewellery party at home just let us know.

If you wanted to take a look at all the items we have take a peak at our website www.purplesorbetjewellery.com

Well i wish I could sit here all day and write about stuff but I must get in the shower and get tidying up as going out with HP and Warren later.

take care everyone xx

New designs, website reviews and competition!!

Hi everyone!

Well day 2 of my blog is upon us. I hope yesterdays blog introduced you to me and my family life and what I get up to on a day to day basis.  Todays blog is going to add to that and include a few other bits which have caught my eye and imagination today.

Today after dropping HP at nursery and then doing a tincy bit of work at our letting agents I came back home to have a whole afternoon with my mum to talk about what new designs we're having for Purple Sorbet! We've got a beautiful new bracelet called Venus which we are doing as a limited edition bracelet for Valentines Day. Venus is a prettily feminine link silver plated charm bracelet of rose quartz nuggets (gemstone of unconditional love), with swarovski bicone crystals and three fabulous charms, a diamante heart, a pewter love charm and a tibetan silver cherub. This bracelet will be on our website from tomorrow for sale at £29.50.

In addition to our new Venus bracelet we have selected another 4 bracelets to put into our valentines selection. These are Adora, Sweet Rose, Back to Black and Sweet Heart. Every girl wants to be treated like a princess on Valentine's Day, so if you boyfriend or husband needs a push in the right direction, send them over to www.purplesorbetjewellery.com!

Sweet Heart - £25.00

Back to Black - £22.00

Shoedazzle.co.uk - Before christmas I was desparate for some new comfy ankle boots so I scoured the internet for some without luck. Then, on my facebook page I came accross shoedazzle.co.uk. Being quite suspicious about facebook advertisments I thought i'd give it a go and with luck I found my perfect pair of boots, Nara. When they came I was SOOOOOO happy with them, they came really quickly and in a fab bright pink shoe box too not like some sites where they are loose. Now girls you'd better be quick as the website is closing down on Tuesday 31st January!!! Originally everything on the site was £39.95 but NOW everything has 75% off!! There's not much left available but there might be something that catches your eye and with free postage and packaging its worth a few minutes of your time!

COMPETITION!
Purple Sorbet are offering one Adora bracelet and one Sweet Rose bracelet up for grabs to two lucky people!  All we ask you to do is to take a look on our website and see which one of the two is your favourite and tell us why! The competition will span over facebook, twitter and the blog so entries from all of these will be accepted.  My mum and I will choose our two favourite answers, one from each of the bracelets, on the evening of Monday 30th january and annouce the winner at 8pm that night.

Right must go and do some housework now before picking HP up from nursery in a while! Please feel free to leave me any questions or comments I'd be happy to answer them!

Much love xxx

Welcome! My first blog!

Thursday 26th January 2012

This is my first blog - aghhhh! So please bear with me. This is basically going to introduce you all to myself, my company and my day to day life.  I'll include ALL sorts of things, some very interesting and some might be very boring! Well hi. I'm Sophie, mother to Harrison (HP), 3 in February and wife to Warren.

The start of Purple Sorbet - well it all started by chance! After having Harrison I spent two mornings a week working for my husbands letting agents in Northampton and since Harrison was getting older I felt I needed something to do with my time. My mum, since she had retired when i had HP, had been keeping herself busy with the odd jewellery making course down at her local Colemans and had made herself some very pretty items of jewellery. One day last May I asked her to make me a Thomas Sabo style black crystal bracelet since I hadn't got anything similar and there was no point paying £30 + when my mum could make me one! The week after I had a few girlfriends round on a saturday night for a few drinky's in the garden and my bracelet caught the attention of them all.  I quickly picked up the basics and we were soon getting quite a few requests from friends and friends of friends for birthday presents etc And so Purple Sorbet was born!

Sophie and Pamela, the P and S in our name, together we wanted to create jewellery which was simple, classic and affordable. Together we hope that we bridge the generation gaps and produce something for girls and ladies of all ages.  We are slowly introducing ourselves to Northampton, at local craft fairs, school fetes and a ladies lunch in May!

Anyway we are on twitter @Purple_sorbet, on facebook Purple Sorbet Handmade Jewellery and our website is Purple Sorbet and we have our sale on until the 10th February!

I'll update this as much as I possibly can! Hope you enjoy what I write about and review and of course all my other day to day runnings around!

lots of love

Sophie xx
