Venus is our Valentine

Saint Valentine was a Roman who was killed for his faith on February 14, 269 A.D. In 496, his 'saint day' was established. He is associated with love because he fell in love with the daughter of his jailer, and would pass notes to her. His final note, before he was executed, read 'from your Valentine'
.
And so to this day. What does Valentine's Day mean in modern times? Well now it means showing the one you love how much you care for them with cards, presents or anything they like.  So at Purple Sorbet we have designed a few bracelets to represent the meaning of Valentine's Day but our favourite by far is Venus.

Venus is made up of Rose quartz nuggets (from Vegas no less!), Swarovski AB crystals, silver links, diamante spacer beads and 3 charms.  Rose quartz is known as love gemstone. Its pink colour signifies its meaning. It is all about ‘love’ in different forms like a love that is transcendental, love for the self, passionate love, love for the family, amorous love or universal love. Its high energy stimulate in intensifying love in relationships whether it is for a love between a mother and child, lovers and beloved or simply love for friends. So of course for Valentine's Day this stone is perfect! To compliment the pretty pink quartz we use Swarovski AB crystals. We use Swarovski over any other one as they are the prettiest clear crystals due to the  'AB' (Aurora Borealis) coating to create the sparkly rainbow appearance. The three charms which are used are a diamante heart charm, a pewter 'love' charm and a Tibetan silver cherub.

These bracelets are pretty and feminine and a perfect gift for Valentine's Day so head over to www.purplesorbetjewellery.com for £29.50. There's free postage and packaging until 14th February too. I wear my Venus all the time and i'll certainly be wearing it on the 14th!!

Bye for now! x

My wedding, my new cow and in the Red Jungle

hiya everyone! After a few very busy days I finally have time to sit down and write my blog! After another night out at a friends house on Saturday night and a whole day Sunday of being in pyjamas and having a good sort out of the house and HP's room I finally sat down to do our wedding photo album! It was strange but lovely looking back at them 18 months ago.  Whenever women get married I'm sure most would turn around and say that they could do that every weekend of their life! It's fantastic and everything about our day was perfect. we had THE best weather (thank god I'd chosen a dress which was light) our caterers got everything spot on and the music topped it all off. If I can recommend these companies because they really made my day what it was.  My dress was from Brides of Wellingborough and John Cable the owner did everything he could to assist me in choosing a dress or 3! The ladies there are very knowledgeable and they'll pick out a few for you to try on if you tell them the type of thing you want. The shop is very large and light and the dresses aren't all crammed together like in some wedding shops. The only slight quibble is that you have to park in the Morrisons car park behind and walk through the little alleyway to get through to the main road.  Anyway I ended up choosing a stunning silk dress by an English designer called Nicola Anne and the dress was Brooklyn in Ivory. I actually asked to have the dress skirt slightly changed so I actually had a bespoke dress for my day!

We used K & S Ball for our catering after being at a few parties where they had provided the food. As we had quite a small number of guests Ken and Sue allowed us to offer our guests a choice of main course as we knew that some people would really struggle with one thing or another.  Now I speak the truth when I say this when every single one of our guests have come to us since and said how outstanding the food was on the day. And to top it all off we had Lincoln Noel and his trio play in the garden for us at the start of the reception and DJ Matt Potter to take us into the evening.
Now we are attempting to potty train at the moment with little success! we've had quite a few accidents and one casualty, with the casualty being my beloved sheepskin rug!!  So after having to chuck it out as Harrison has slowly destroyed it over the last few years I started looking at cowhides! Oh my god I love them! If i had my way every piece of furniture in our living room would be cowhide or pony skin but warrens stopped me at the rug. So after trawling this one website http://www.citycows.co.uk/ for about 45 minutes and being on the phone to my mum just constantly reading out different codes of rugs checking the colour, size and pattern I have finally found my perfect rug!

Now as fussy as I apparently am with cowhides my mum is equally as fussy with her hair.  After as she would describe it, donkeys years of trying different hairdressers she has finally found one she likes and has got her hair right! Thanks the lord! And lucky she likes it too as it's one of my best friends! My friend Debbi owns Jungle Red Salon on Wellingborough Road in Northampton. http://www.junglered.co.uk/  Debbi hasn't been doing my hair for too long as I was very loyal to my previous salon however after some quite childish behaviour on their part I decided enough was enough and gave Debbi the chance to do my hair and I was very very pleased with it. Now my mum used to go to hairdressers, come back complain wash her hair straight away, cut her hair herself and even once she even made me cut it when I was about 13. She must've hated it then! But I suggested to my mum to try Debbi as she REALLY knows what she's talking about. Jungle Red have The Wella Master Colour Expert Award and I think there's only another two salons that hold it in Northampton. So my mum goes to Debbi yesterday, comes back via my house and she is elated it! She has finally got the colour she wants after about 6-7 years and simply because Debbi knows what shes talking about,. She'll guide you on the colour, shade and cut to suit you.  If you go on a Friday or a Saturday they have 'Cupcake and Cava weekends' where you can have a glass of fizz and a cupcake whilst you get your hair done, a very nice touch.  Speaking of which I must go and book my hair appointment with her now for the end of the month.

Be more in a couple of days! xx
